FAQ
What is Rad Dad Labs?
A barcode-keyed router for Certificates of Analysis. Brands publish each batch’s COA against a permanent barcode URL on labs.raddadlabs.com. Retailers and distributors point their product pages at that URL once. Every time the brand publishes a new batch, the link automatically resolves to the current COA — no retailer or distributor work required.
Does Labs read or verify the COA itself?
No. Labs stores the versioned mapping of which COA was authoritative for a given barcode at a given time, plus an access log. The contents of the document — potency, cannabinoid profile, pass/fail — are the responsibility of the accredited laboratory that issued it. Labs does not parse, interpret, or certify any COA value.
I scanned a barcode and got “not registered.” What now?
That barcode hasn’t been registered with Labs yet. The most likely reason: the brand hasn’t added it to their dashboard. Check with the brand directly, or contact us at hello@raddadlabs.com and we’ll reach out to them.
I’m a retailer. How do I add “Lab Results” to my Shopify store?
Two paths. The recommended one is the Rad Dad Labs COA SyncShopify app — install it, drop the “Lab Results” block onto your product template, and set the variant metafield. The block ships hidden by default (no broken state on products without a COA). The manual path: set a URL metafield at rdlabs.coa_url per variant and render the link in your theme yourself.
I’m a brand. How do I publish a new COA?
From the brand portal, go to Products → Scanon your phone. Scan the unit’s barcode, then either paste the COA URL from your lab portal or drop a PDF directly. The new batch becomes the current pointer immediately. Every Shopify storefront, DoorDash listing, and badge that was already pointing at that barcode now resolves to the new document — without any retailer action.
Where do I find the COA URL my lab gave me?
Most accredited labs host every batch on a per-sample URL on their own portal. Sign into the lab’s portal, find the batch, and copy the share link. From the brand portal’s scan flow, if you set a coa_hub_urlon your settings page, we’ll surface a one-tap deep link to your lab’s portal on every match card.
I’m a distributor. What does Labs do for me?
Permit management, not COA routing. The distributor portal tracks each retailer’s ATC, LDH, and resale-cert status, with 60 / 30 / 7-day renewal alerts and a distributor-side audit log for inspection windows. COAs themselves stay between the brand and the retailer.
What does it cost?
Retailers are free forever for the basic Lab Results link. Retailer Pro, Distributor, and Brand tiers run monthly with a published barcode ladder for brands. Full breakdown on the pricing page.
What does Labs do with my data?
Operational data (barcodes, COA URLs, batches, permits) is used to deliver the service. Access logs power the brand-side analytics dashboard and the audit trail — we record timestamp, retailer domain, barcode queried, and a hash of the requesting IP. We do not store raw IPs, do not parse COA contents, and do not sell or share data with third parties beyond our infrastructure providers. Full text on the privacy policy.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes. From your dashboard’s settings page, you can export your records or request account deletion. Deletion removes your records within 30 days; some access logs are retained in append-only form for audit integrity. For deletion requests outside the dashboard, email privacy@raddadlabs.com.
Is the service stable enough to put in front of inspectors?
The router and audit log are the two paths Labs treats as production-critical. Both have idempotent writes, append-only logs, and a daily storage backup for hosted PDFs. If the service is ever down during an inspection window, retailers can fall back to the most recently exported audit binder — which is one click on the Retailer Pro dashboard.
I’m a lab. Can I publish COAs to Labs directly?
Lab-direct intake (your LIMS posts to a Labs webhook on sample-complete, no brand-side work) is in active design. If you’re an accredited lab and want to be a pilot, write to hello@raddadlabs.com and tell us which LIMS you run.
